Christmas 2009

"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas......" but wait!  What to my wondering eyes did appear but snow on Christmas eve!

My house didn't receive as much snow as some areas but it was enough for me to call it a white Christmas.

Here's a close up in case you can't see it.  ;)

Christmas dinner this year was going to be at my sister and Jarrett's new house.  They made beef and chicken enchiladas.  Mmmmm.....

She had their house decorated with lots of snowmen which are my favorite.

They also had some yummy appetizers.

Frankie, Allison and Hailey were not able to make it because poor Hailey had a virus.  Hopefully we'll get to see them soon.

The rest of us did enjoy the food, fellowship and had fun!  We played a game called Apples to Apples which was a totally random but fun game.  We laughed a lot.  And not just because Marvin kept saying zucchini.  LOL!

Wishing you Christmas happiness to warm your heart and home!

ICE! at the Gaylord Texan 12.22.09

Our adventure to see ICE! at the Gaylord Texan actually began two days earlier.  We had never been to ICE! before so we didn't realize how many people actually also wanted to go.  We tried to purchase tickets at 5pm and found out they were selling tickets for the 8:30 show!  We weren't going to wait that long.

We did manage to take a couple pics before we left.

We headed back the next day minus Marvin who was working and again found out that the current shows were sold out!  aaarrrggghhhh!!  We ended up going to Holiday in the Park at Six Flags but stopped by a kiosk to buy our tickets for the next day to be sure and be able to get in.

Finally at the entrance of ICE!

This icy attraction is part of the Gaylord Texan's annual Lone Star Christmas celebration.  This year ICE! features the story of The Grinch by recreating scenes from the book in ice.  These intricately carved, larger-than-life, interactive ice sculptures are set in a walk-through world of ice.  You can click here to learn more about how ICE! is made.

We took lots of pics while we were there.  I'd like to say it was only because everything was soooo awesome but one of the reasons was because we were so freaking cold (it was 9 degrees in there) and it helped us to stay warm.

Now here's a picture of me.  I posed this way because everyone else with me was posing this way.  I guess I'm a follower.

The following picture is for my mom.  It's kind of an inside family joke about stealing...er....uh....I mean "taking" a green apple.

On the way out we noticed the phones at the Gaylord.  As many of you know I have a "thing" about phones.

Holiday in the Park - Six Flags 12.21.09

One of our first adventures included a trip to Six Flags to enjoy Holiday in the Park.  It is an annual event that transforms the park into a winter wonderland.  This exciting event features holiday-themed shows, delicious food, choirs and carolers, plus a snow hill which is perfect for sledding!  The fun lasts from November 27th - January 3rd.

We arrived before the official 4 o'clock opening time so we had to wait to actually enter.  Lucky for us there was a guy making fajitas in a Texas sized frying pan.

Hans and Kelly were ready for some fun!

First ride of the day was La Vibora which is a free wheeling, fast moving bobsled style ride.  Unfortunately they do not allow any backpacks on the ride and do not offer any free storage.  They are kind enough to provide one time use lockers and charge you $1 each time you use them!  NUTS!!  I did not ride but watched the kids enjoy it.

While waiting for them to finish riding I did come across a pretty cool sign.

Kelly was quickly introduced to my love of taking pictures with things.  For example:

Then.....

and....

The kids rode the Titan which also had the same backpack rule so I just sat on the benches, played Bejeweled and waited.

Next up was the Chaparral Antique cars.  Kat drove me and Anna acted as chauffer for Hans and Kelly.

Much to all my kids' enjoyment we came across another photo op.

It looks as though Anna and Kat are striking a sexy pose and I......am not.

Here's one of my favorite pics of Kelly and Hans.

Hans had my camera while we rode the Rodeo ride.  He snapped a cute pic of Kelly.

So we got on the Rodeo.  According to Six Flags, they wanted to know if we thought we had what it takes to break these ornery bulls?  Well apparently we did because as we were riding the ride broke.  Kept going in circles and didn't stop.  Was about to break my stomach but they finally got the ride to end.  Thank goodness.

Did I mention that I like taking random pics?

Hans finally convinced Kelly to ride the Superman with him and the girlies.  He was not successful in persuading me.

All in all we had a super fun day!  :)  Good times with family.
