Metal Sculptures at Meyers Auto Tech

We took the girlies car to Meyers Auto Tech and one of the cool things about them, besides the fact that they took great care of us, was the fact that they had these amazing little sculptures all over the place.  Take a peek and if you happen to stop by to take a look yourself be sure and tell them that Lisa from Adventures of an AFWingMom sent you.  They won't know who I am but it'll make me smile! haha!

Pretty cool, huh?!!

Landed in Washington

We landed at the Tri-Cities Airport and the fun of surprising the girlies was underway.  Since the girlies were meeting me at the airport, ~M~ and I had a little bit of time to plan.  What we didn't plan on was the airline losing our luggage.  So we decided that I would stay with the rest of our luggage and ~M~ would go and hide in the rental van.

The girlies arrive and we are standing at the ticket counter waiting to make a claim for the lost luggage.  I asked girlies to come with me to unload what luggage I did have so we didn't have to lug it around.

Anna was the only one that wanted to go with me so we started walking towards the rental car area.  I went out the front entrance door instead and Anna said, "Mama, the cars are down there" as she pointed to the door at the far end of the airport.  I just "that's okay" and kept walking.  Then right outside the door I see our rental van and I started walking towards it and I told Anna that we could just use that one.  You would have thought I had started doing cartwheels down the tarmac or something.  She was saying, "Mama - you can't do that! You don't know who's car that is!"  Finally as I opened the back of the van she asked who had parked it there.  ~M~ pops up from the backseat and said, "I did!!"  hahahahaha!!!  Booo-yaaaa!!!  We surprised the rest of the girlies by ~M~ just walking up behind them after Anna and I returned to the ticket counter.

We had to stop by a mechanics place to get the girlies car looked at.  ~M~ called around and we decided to use Meyers Auto Tech and we're really glad we did.  They were so nice and professional and their shop was really neat and clean.  Plus they had these really cool sculptures all around...there's a pictorial blog coming up next.

Then it was time to eat.  We went to Shang Hai (or possibly Shang Hi....not sure of the spelling) and on the way we passed this cool sign.

Once we arrived Anna was amazed at the giant spoon.

Here's my dinner....mmmm...yummy!

It's picture time!

Still amazed by the spoon...

College Airplanes

So on our Quick Trip to Washington we flew to the Sea-Tac Airport and spotted the Boise State plane.

Once on the plane I glanced through the complimentary Horizon Air Magazine November 2010 issue and on page 3 I found the article, "The Teaming Skies" which talked about the decorated planes.  It seems that about 3 years ago Horizon Air rolled out university themed planes and they created a lot of excitement.

So be on the lookout - three more planes joined the existing five in November.  I think it's cool but it would be even cooler if they had a UT Texas Longhorn one!

A Quick Trip To Washington

December 2010

We decided to head to Washington for a quick weekend trip to see some of my kids.  We were actually surprising them by bringing ~M~ along so when I took my usual food pic to post to facebook I only took a pic of my food.

1

Sarah actually saw this pic I posted and she did agree that she thought it was just me coming because there was only one plate of food.  Haha!  So sneaky!

I played my usual "What's In The Seat Pocket In Front Of Me" game.

4

Came up with nada but that's okay.  You win some and you lose some.  Besides, there was a plethora of reading material to be looked through.

5

The vomit bag apparently doubles as a seat savor.  I wouldn't sit where I thought there might be vomit so I would go out on a limb and say it's very effective.

6

One thing I like to do when flying is look through the safety guide and admire the artwork or at the very least add my own comments.

7

So this lady randomly opens the overhead compartment with a total disregard for the safety of the passengers sitting below it.

8

Has she not listened to ANY of the cautions that the flight attendants caution us about?

Now this guy is trying to cut in line.  Hasn't he heard the phrase, "Women and children first"?

9

That's okay - the lady ends up shoving him out the door.

10

I visited the bathroom on the plane out of necessity.  My eyes were turning yellow.  I have this "thing" about bathrooms and if you follow my blog (and you should because all the cool people are following it) you already know that.  Anyway - it's a small space and flushing it creeps me out.  I managed to get through the ordeal and snap a pic.  I am a professional folks.

11

Here's my snack.  And before you ask the answer is no.  The airline did not serve champagne with my orange juice so no mimosas for me.  I was so obviously not in first class where I belonged.

12

The book you see on the left is my new journal for my blog notes.  Pretty cute, isn't it?!

We're almost there.....

P.S. I'm still waiting for Southwest Airlines to hire me for an awesomely fantastic job

Longhorn weekend coming to an end....

It had been a really fun weekend and now we were almost home.  We were starving and didn't feel like cooking so I asked M what he would like.  He was craving a juicy burger and I suggested Keller's Hamburgers.  He agreed and we headed to the Northwest Highway location.

1

We perused the menu....

...and I was delighted to see that they were highlighting what looked like a fantastic deal.  I mean who could go wrong with choosing this number?

5

This sign could be an indicator of what kind of place this is.

6

I really needed to use the restroom so I hopped out of the car and headed to the ladies room.  I was not deterred by the fact that there was a small group of guys that looked like biker dudes.  Well at least not initially.  I have visited a lot of restrooms but this was in a league of it's own.  I had considered doing a separate bathroom review but I couldn't quite bring myself to stay in there beyond the few pictures I took.  I was concerned about dying of internal toxins since I really had to go but again that fear was outweighed by the fear of what I could catch if I stayed in there.

As you'll notice in these first two pics the lighting was lacking.  In this first picture the sink area looks clean all things considered.

7

In this next picture notice the complete lack of a light source in the restroom area.  I ventured that way but it was too much for even me.

8

Here's the door as viewed from the inside.

9

It appears there had been several locks that had been removed over time.  The bottom one (closest to the red X) was actually a hole that if you peeped through you could see right outside.  Or possibly you could see right in.  Depends on which side of the door you are on.  In looking back at this pic I wish I had taken more shots of the graffiti but seriously...I could feel an illness coming on the longer I stayed in there.  I quickly left and felt even more uncomfortable passing by the group of guys that were seated right next to the door.

I got back to the car and a short time later our food arrived.

10

I chose the regular hamburger and it was tasty, greasy and cheap which is an awesome combination in my book.

11

As you can see they come on a poppy seed bun.  I found out later that I could have gone with the plain bun but I thought the poppy seed bun was good.

All in all it was a delicious meal and I would recommend you try it if you haven't before.  I would also recommend using the restroom at home before you go.  Just saying.
