Eating at Shari's Restaurant

Finally!  The day of the wedding rehearsal is here.  We started off the day by eating at Shari's.

We'd read (from the menu) that the cinnamon rolls were really good here so of course I had to order one.

Final verdict?  They were VERY good!

The odd thing about breakfast here was the fact that the breakfast entrees only came with one egg.  Completely threw M off because he always orders 2 eggs over easy.

Here's what my Dad ordered.  That's right, my Dad.  I took a pic of someone else's food besides my own or M's plate:

This is what M ordered.  I basically ordered the same thing.  It's a version of eggs Benedict.  M had the "holiday" sauce on the side.

A great way to start our day.....

High 5 for yummy cinnamon rolls and a delicious breakfast!!

One more day until the wedding!!

Famous Dave's

We took Sarah to get her shots for her mission trip to Colombia.  The nurse was very detailed and very, very thorough.  I thought it was going to be a quick in and out kind of thing but no, an hour and a half later and we were finally heading to lunch.

Famous Dave's was the restaurant of choice for our meal.

One of the many things that I love about our family is our ability to have fun in any situation.  Good or bad we make it a great time.

At Famous Dave's they have a great stuffed baked potato.  It was very delicious!

Good times with family but guess what?  Only 2 more days until the wedding!

Fiesta Dinner

After getting back from an incredible time at the coast, Gina, M and I decided to go out to eat.  Well, really we didn't have much choice since there wasn't anything to eat at the house besides "several days" old Chinese food and leftover pizza.

So off we went intending to find a great Mexican restaurant in Pasco.  Now on our phones we have a GPS feature that sometimes works awesome and sometimes doesn't work so well.  I'll let you guess how it worked that evening.

We agree on a restaurant and M puts it in his GPS.  We start on our journey and become somewhat concerned as we pass all the restaurants and appear to be leaving the city and heading toward farmland.

M is confident we're heading in the right direction.  Gina is not.  She commented several times that she would have already turned around by then.  My auto response was that I believed in M and was leading us in the right direction.  My faith was misplaced.

We were in the middle of farmland.  We were jokingly saying to each other that instead of directing us to Fiesta the restaurant perhaps the GPS was just leading us to a fiesta on someone's farm.  We weren't sure about that but we were sure that we were hungry.

Finally we arrived at Fiesta the restaurant.

A cool thing about this restaurant is that they have a salsa bar where you can try all kinds of salsa.  I forgot to get a pic but here are a couple that I tried with some fresh homemade tortillas.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner and headed back to the house.

Only 3 more days until the wedding!!

Leaving the Coast

It was kind of a good news, bad news kind of thing.

Good news is the puzzle was completed.

1.1

The bad news is we were leaving and heading back to Washington.  We really had a blast at the coast.  One of the cool things about Oregon is it is against the law to pump your own gas.

1.2 1.3

But the best news is we were heading back because there was a wedding coming up!

Of course I was excited to see a Post Office.

2

They have these super cool trams in Portland.

3

Crossing a bridge to make a pit stop at Voodoo Doughnuts.

4

Check out my Voodoo Doughnut post to see what it's all about.

8

I was also happy to see a couple of water towers.

5

6

I took another spill on my backside.  Good thing I have lots of padding.

7

One thing that is really cool to me is when you see something or someone from your hometown.  It's like seeing a family member in a crowd of strangers.

8

The trip back to Washington was going well!  Let the wedding countdown begin....

Voodoo Doughnuts

On the recommendation of my highschool classmate Tracey Singleton, we decided to make a pit stop in Portland Oregon and visit Voodoo Doughnut.  This cute little shop has been featured and seen on television and numerous other publications and blogs.

But before we could get there we had to figure out the parking meter.

I guess this water fountain is just in case 4 people get thirsty at once?

2

Aaah ~ the famous Voodoo Doughnut - where the magic is in the hole.

3

Once inside we found it artfully decorated.

Now to make a selection...

M chose a Portland Creme, the official doughnut of Portland, while I opted for the signature Voodoo Doughnut.  My doughnut looked like a gingerbread man complete with a pretzel to poke him with to make the red filling ooze out.

It was definitely a cool travel experience and one I'd recommend as a fun stop on any road trip.

Jakes

We left Wednesday morning to head back to Washington.  We had such a great time on the Oregon coast and thoroughly enjoyed Lincoln City but there was a wedding coming up and we needed to get back.  We stopped in McMinnville, Oregon at Jakes Deli & Restaurant for breakfast.

They had some cool antique pieces in there.

We were having breakfast but there are lots of great menu items.

And hey all you foodie fans ~ this is what I ate.

9

We talked a bit with the owner Steve and he was super nice.  It was a great place to get a bite to eat.  If you're ever in the neighborhood stop on by and tell him AFWingMom sent you.  He won't know who that is but it's all a part of the master plan to help me become famous.
